To celebrate the release of the Cinderella Diamond Edition in October Disney had Christian Louboutin design a “glass slipper”.  Instead of a dangerous and heavy weight “glass slipper”, the shoe features lace over tulle to create a transparent look, Swarovski Crystals to add magic and sparkle and is also adorned with butterflies …although I’m not entirely sure why.

Disney has also got together with DSW to create a line of formal elegant shoes, also inspired by Cinderella, that are a little easier to get your hands on.  Another way for the corporation to get money….the idea doesn’t surprise us, but we do like the “Closet Geekery” behind it.

‘The inspiration for the line came from the vision of Disney artist Mary Blair’s original art for the film,’ says Debbie Ferrée, Vice Chairman, EVP of Merchandising for DSW. ‘We took a close look at the film’s aesthetic details — the rich textures and fabric, the beautiful blue in Cinderella’s dress, even the French rococo-inspired scenery. Every whimsical touch featured in the footwear collection came right out of the film.’

‘The Glass Slipper Collection’ hits DSW stores and dsw.com on October 1, 2012 in celebration of the release of Cinderella Diamond Edition, available on Blu-ray™ for the first time at the stroke of midnight on October 2.

Prices range from $59.95 to $89.95

So on October 2nd, Disney will of course give you the option to purchase a collectors edition set which is a jewelry box set including Cinderella and the other 2 Cinderella sequels (which are not worth watching…just saying)

But for the love (and want) for just the original, Disney will also offer it to us on blu-ray with a dvd and digital copy along with it.
